High Brix level, firm flesh and no treatments needed thanks to the weather and soil conditions - Red Season organic strawberries passed all the tests with flying colours.
"We are very pleased with the autumn campaign of Red Season strawberries, meaning quality is exceptional in winter too. Albion strawberries maintained all their characteristics, just as expected by consumers," reports a company note.
A 10-day shelf-life, 12° Brix, excellent firmness and a strong flavour are the characteristics of these strawberries, which are grown in Albania on 40 hectares with the availability of another 150 in the future.
Entrepreneurs Giovanni Gianello and Stegano Burganti from Burganti Srl, with the help of LC Fruit Srl in Monteforte d'Alpone, are constantly on the look for excellent products and have therefore decided to start producing directly instead of only commercialising the fruit.
The soil does not allow nematode and parasite multiplication and is so rich in humus that no additional organic matter or fertilisation are needed. Thanks to the breezy climate, there is no water stagnation and therefore no phytosanitary treatments are needed.
"Were it not for the fact that they are harvested by hand, they could be eaten without even being washed. Red Season strawberries are organic by nature."
The produce is sold through a capillary commercial network that ensures quick distribution. The same results are obtained with tomatoes, another product part of the Red Season range, whose first winter campaign is still ongoing.
The three entrepreneurs are pleased with the characteristics of the Albion winter production and, as quantities were not enough to meet demands, they are looking to increase production, making them available all year round.
